PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

May 2000 to Present.  Research Assistant for Dr. W.R. Raun, Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma.  Responsibilities: Research field work, sample processing, storage and organization, and statistical analyses.  Research crops include wheat, alfalfa, cotton, soybeans, and bermudagrass.

Fall of 1998, spring of 1999 and 2000.  Soil Science Lab Instructor.  The University of Tennessee, Martin.  Responsibilities: Taught students basic information about soil properties, including differences in texture, structure, water infiltration, and several other properties; taught practical experiences in areas such as taking soil samples and determining suitability for home site septic tanks. 

January 1991 to May 2000.  Assistant Manager for Maple Creek Dairy Mud Creek, TN.  Responsibilities: assist in planning and operating the dairy and field crop production and supervised employees.  Made decisions and conducted labor on: soil testing, varieties planted, planting dates, seeding rates, fertilizer rates, pesticides used, harvest dates, field notes on crops, bull selection, breeding methods , record keeping, and feeding rations for the dairy operation.  Along with this experience, I have supervised farm employees in the field and in the barn.

January 1991 to May 2000.  Farm Employee for Pine Grove Dairy Shady Grove, TN.  Provided labor and advice in the filed crop operation.

Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities, Alpha Zeta Agricutural Honor Society, Named to Dean’s list for five semesters.

 INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Work with International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) based in El Batan, Mexico.  Research targeted at using red, green, and near-infrared spectral bands for determination of high yielding varieties in breadwheats, durum wheats, and triticale, August 14-18, 2000.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

Software/analyses experience with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and SAS.
