Charging

IPAQ The IPAQ can be left on the charger for extended periods without risk of damaging the battery

Senor The Sensor should not be left on the charger for extended periods.  Charge the sensor after each
use for approximately 12 hrs, then place back onto the charger 12 hrs prior to next use if the sensor has been off the charger for over a week.

THE IPAQ DOES NOT CHARGE ON THE SENSOR WHEN THE SENSOR IS TURNED OFF.
 

N-Rich Strip

  1. Turn on Sensor
  2. Turn on Ipaq
  3. Click
    1. Start   
    2. Programs
    3. N-Tech Capture
  4. Choose log strip Option
    1. For sensors distributed prior to Jan 2007
    2. On the bottom of the screen select sensor

                                                    i.          Select start Green seeker.

  1. Message should appear “Press Trigger to Log”
  2. Select the Button to the right of the NR Strip or Farmer Practice, which ever you plan to sense first, the button will say MONITORING.
  3. Press trigger while walking though NR or FP
  4. Do the same for the next practice.
  5. Record NDVI Readings from both N-Rich and Farmers Practice for later use.
  6. Bottom Left hand corner of IPAQ select
    1. File
    2. Save As
    3. Input File name
    4. Select Folder to store file ex. N-Tech Capture or Ramp Sensed File
    5. Save
  7. Before sensing next field: Go To Bottom Left Hand Corner
    1. File
    2. New
  8. When you are ready to calculate the N Rate for the field (using the IPAQ).
  9. Bottom Left hand corner of IPAQ select
    1. File
    2. Exit
  10. On IPAQ click
    1. Start
    2. File Explorer
    3. Open the My Device folder ( top left hand side of the sceen)
    4. In My Device open My Documents
    5. Open pocket excel file named Oklahoma Loadup
  11. IMPORTANT Do Not Click on or Write in RED BOXES!!
  12. Enter Max Yield (2 times the ave) into the yellow box.
        a.   First tap on the Yellow Box for Max yield
        b.  On the bottom center of the screen hit the icon that looks like a keyboard.
        c.  Input the numbers.
  13. Do the same for GDD>0, which has to be calculated before going to the field,
    NDVI (NRS), NDVI (FP), and NUE Expected. 
  14. Tap once on the keyboard on the bottom of the screen, to hide the keyboard.
  15. Results in the Red Boxes are the YP and N Rate for that field..
     

 

 

 

Ramp Calibration Strip

  1. Turn on Sensor
  2. Turn on IPAQ
  3. Click
    1. Start   
    2. Programs
    3. N-Tech Capture
  1. Choose log plot Option
    1. For sensors distributed prior to Jan 2007
    2. On the bottom of the screen select sensor

                                                    i.          Select start Green seeker.

  1. Message should appear “Press Trigger to Log”
  2. Press trigger while walking though the Ramp without RELEASING trigger.
  3. Do Not sense the High N rate that is next to the Zero.
  4. Bottom Left hand corner of IPAQ select
    1. File
    2. Save As
    3. Input File name
    4. Select Folder to store file ex. N-Tech Capture or Ramp Sensed File
    5. Save
  5. When you are ready to analyze ramp
  6. Bottom Left hand corner of IPAQ select
    1. File
    2. Exit
  1. On the Main IPAQ Screen Click
    1. Start   
    1. Programs or Shortcut to Ramp_Mobile
    2. Shortcut to Ramp_Mobile_Analysis
  1. On the bottom Left hand Side select
    1. Settings
    2. Ramp Config
    3. Load Config File (If using Standard ramp)
    4. Click on either 16 step or 8 step ramp
  2. Select Settings Again
    1. Field Settings
    2. Fill in Field ID, GDD, Est Yield, NUE, and Growth
  3. On the bottom Left hand Side select
    1. File
    2. Open Data
    3. Click on Ramp File. (Do Not Select file with Avg or DI at the end of the field ID)
  4. Click Analyze Button.
